British Flowers Week 2021

British Flowers Week 2021

YAY! British Flowers Week is back for its 9th year, since it was founded in 2013 by New Covent Garden market, taking place 14th-20th June 2021. Putting the spotlight on our fabulous industry for an entire week highlighting British flowers, local florists, independent growers and suppliers. It is also a chance to inspire the nation with beautiful blooms and get them involved in the week long celebrations!

How you can get involved with British Flowers Week 2021

Inspire Kids

Help inspire the next generation of mini florists and green-fingered gardeners by letting the children or grand kids create their own dedicated  growing space at home. Find a section in your garden, windowsill containers or use a big plant pot, and let the little ones enjoy planting seeds, regularly watering and tending to the shoots, and watch them GROW! It's not too late in June to sow sunflower or nigella seeds, or try fast growing herbs such as parsley, coriander and dill.

Support Your Local florist

Here at Magnolia the Florist in Kettering, we love working with seasonal blooms to create our bespoke bouquets. The Summer months bring an abundance of British flowers and foliage that our talented florists can use – from peonies, delphiniums, garden roses, lavender, larkspur and alliums. Our Summer Flowers range has launched online, so you can send (or order for yourself as a treat!) some British inspired floral bouquets. Check out the new kid on the block – the luxurious Britannia Gardens Bouquet which is perfect for championing the very finest seasonal blooms.

Virtual Events

New Covent Garden Market have a fabulous week planned full of virtual events, online competitions, workshops and window tool kits so you can join in the festivities too! Check out their British Flowers Week website for lots of handy information, how to enter the window competition (all local businesses and the general public are invited to enter!) and discover events and virtual talks happening in June.

Explore Gardens

Take the opportunity whilst the sun is shining to explore the many magnificent grand gardens, local parks and open spaces that Northamptonshire has.  Kelmarsh Hall and Gardens, just on the outskirts of Kettering is a firm favourite of ours – and must see for any avid flower lovers out there! With acres of stunning gardens to explore, woodland and lakeside walks, and a tea room for a spot of Afternoon Tea. These gorgeous gardens, which were constructed back in the early 1900s and nowadays maintained by a dedicated team of volunteers, are known for their ‘relaxed charm and haphazard elegance’.  In the Summer months at Kelmarsh Gardens the seasonal highlights includes scented roses, stunning peonies and delicate sweet peas.
