5 IDEAS FOR A SPOOKY HALLOWEEN IN KETTERING
The dark evenings are rolling in, the air has a chill and Costa has its Autumnal hot chocolate on the menu – it must mean one thing, Halloween!
WHY DO WE CELEBRATE HALLOWEEN ?
How come we celebrate Halloween I hear you scream! Halloween dates back many centuries, and the event we celebrate today is a mix of traditions from different cultures. In Europe on All Hallows’ Eve (31st October), they used to light candles and offer flowers to remember those who had moved to the other side. The Tudors would ring bells to help trapped souls move to their final resting place, and the old Celtic festival Samhain marked the end of Harvest season.
Over the years, these traditions evolved in to the more commercial Halloween we celebrate now – a chance to dust off our fangs and dig out our best scary wigs for a spooky night of entertainment.
